Welcome to Home Farm!
We have lots of exciting things in the ground for the 2014 season! Already peeking up are the old standbys - peas, lettuce, carrots, beets... sweet corn, cauliflower and broccoli are ready for transplanting outside as soon as the weather permits! Here in the Home Farm kitchen we've been enjoying chives and sorrel from the herb garden, and the garlic chives are coming along quickly.
This year we have a plot of the heritage variety wheat "Park", as well as cavena nuda (naked oats), and hulless purple barley. We're testing a patch of quinoa and a row of amaranth as well! Hopefully these crops will prove successful and we can offer you some local, naturally grown grains chock full of nutrients!
We will be bringing our produce to the Boyle Farmer's Market every Thursday from 1pm to 4pm at the Boyle Community Centre. As always, feel free to pop in and check out the gardens. Know your farmer, know your food!
